Participant Application - Information

Cotillion 2018 is a youth development and scholarship program sponsored by the Kansas City, Missouri Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated and the Delta Educational and Economic Development (DEED) Foundation. Since 1986, nearly 900 male and female high school seniors have participated in Cotillion activities focused on college preparation, community service, personal development, and cultural enrichment. Highlights of the 2018 program will include a college tour trip, an essay competition, mentoring relationships, a talent show, and a scholarship awards dinner with formal presentation of the participants.

All participants who successfully complete the Cotillion program will receive a minimum scholarship award of $800. Additional scholarships will be awarded for top performances in academics, community service, essay-writing, souvenir journal ad sales, formal presentation ticket sales, and overall participation in the Cotillion program. Mentors will help the participants identify external scholarship opportunities based on their individual interests and abilities.

Applications for Cotillion 2018 are available at deedkcmo.org/cotillion To apply for the program, high school seniors must submit a complete application packet to include the following:

  • Official high school transcript reflecting a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5
  • Two typewritten letters of recommendation (at least one from a teacher or academic official)
  • A headshot photograph
  • Fee deposit of $175 for male applicants or $200 for female applicants (see fee schedule below)

The application packets can be submitted electronically or by mail, as per the instructions on the application. All application packets must be delivered or postmarked by September 30, 2017.

A Cotillion 2018 informational meeting will be held on Sunday, September 10, 2017, from 3:00 – 5:00 pm at the Delta Athenaeum, 900 E Linwood Blvd, Kansas City, Missouri.
